Make a Peg Bag | Stretchy Sewing | Sewing Class | 5 hour class
Learn to sew in Shetland with classes at Uphouse Crafts.
Open to residents and visitors, these one-day classes are held at my workshop in Aith. Find us easily with the directions on our website. If you are 15 or under you should be accompanied by an adult.
Classes are 4.5 hours long and include a 30-minute break. Cost ranges from £80-90 per person, with a 50% discount for booking for two people. Kits are included in the cost.
Sewing machines provided, or bring your own. Must be capable of straight, zig zag, and button hole stitches.
What are the sewing classes available?
Make a Peg Bag
Make your own Uphouse Crafts Peg Bag. Learn basic skills such as simple quilting, attaching binding, adding darts for shape and using bag hardware.
To do this class you should know how to operate a sewing maching, and ideally have completed a beginners class or be a confident beginner.
Sewing Stretchy Fabrics
Learn how to sew stretchy fabrics by creating a baby bib and hat set, as well as an adult beanie hat using cotton lycra jersey. Discover techniques for cutting jersey fabric with a rotary cutter and self-healing mat. Master handling stretchy fabrics and preventing bumpy seams for a smooth finish.
General Sewing
Do you want to learn a new technique? Learn how to make a bag or purse? Do you want to learn how to do basic alterations or repairs?
In the general sewing class, you pick what you want to do. All you have to do is message me before you book so I can make a course plan for you. Once you are happy with the plan you can go ahead and book a time to suit you.
