Handmade Teacher Gifts

Handmade Teacher Gifts

This week has marked the end of the school year for our son.  With that comes the question ‘What should we do for a teacher gift?’.  Well since our son is autistic he has 5 assistants who look after him throughout the week, meaning 5 lots of gifts.  We decided for this year we would get Jack involved in the process, so we made White Chocolate Fudge.

Jack loves to stand on a chair and help measure out the chocolate chips from the bag into a cup them into the pan, then he helps tip the condensed milk out and I scrape the tin.  After that he stabs the spatula in a few times and declares his role done.  He usually watches me from across the kitchen as I melt the ingredients together and then comes back to watch it all get tipped into the tin to set.

This time we made little thank you stickers to let his care workers and teacher know that their hard work was much appreciated.

If you would like to try Jack’s White Chocolate Fudge here is the recipe:

  • 600g white chocolate
  • 1 tin condensed milk
  • 15g butter
  • pinch salt
  • tsp vanilla paste (the one with the seeds it)

Add all ingredients to a pan.  Heat on low stirring constantly until all the chocolate is melted and it looks like a thick mass.

Pour into a 9x9” parchment lined dish (do not use tin foil as it sticks - ask me how I know 🫣).

Leave the fudge overnight to set and cool.  Cut into small squares and keep in the fridge.

You can also do this with milk or dark chocolate (or even terrys chocolate oranges 🍊).

Get creative and enjoy any fudge you do make.
